  • Flight+Roadtrip+Ben and Jerry's = Fun

Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky

We flew to Burlington, VT, spent the night, and got up the next morning for our long trip home. We toured the Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, ate some kickass ice cream, saw a couple waterfalls and went leaf peeping. We saw no moose although we tried calling for them out the window of our slick hyundai "luxury" rental car.

We drove all day, ended up spending the night in PA, and got up the next morning to go to a venomous reptile show in Jamestown, OH. The reptile show wasn't a lot of fun, but that's ok. Vermont was Dan's 49th state to visit, so the reptile show was only icing on the cake. But the company (Holly) was the best part of the entire trip! Ok, second best to Ben and Jerry's.
After the reptile show came a 6 hour drive home. Dan drove the entire way.

  • MAUI

    Maui, Hawaii

    Paradise.

Snorkeling, seeing Holly in a bathing suit, catching lots of sunsets, drinking champagne, luaus, green sea turtles, coconut monkey drinks, the best damn brunch EVER, meeting Santa Claus, dining on poo poo platters with our feet in the sand, an electric ukulele, a long long drive to a place that wasn't even that memorable (see 'how it all happened'), and an awesome acceptance to a marriage proposal.
Maui is awesome. We'll be back.
    Dan's 50th state.

  • Mexico!!!

    Riviera Maya, Mexico

It's hot...really hot. Â But we had a lot of fun. Â Between the crystal blue water, the endless drinks, and seafood galore, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Â I had plenty of opportunities to speak Spanish with the natives and other guests. Â Holly and I both held a monkey and got our photo taken with it. Â I went scuba diving 40 feet below the surface on the 2nd longest reef system in the world (second only to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia). Â We fed bread to fish and in the process pissed off a female tourist that didn't speak English. Â We snorkled in an area hoping to find a sea turtle but only ran into a school of sardines and a great big angry looking barracuda. Â I learned how to say 'rattlesnake' in Spanish and taught a local the same in English. Â Holly got the opportunity to meet my cousins Bev and Becky. Â Best of all, I got to go on vacation with my family for the 1st time in 14 years and even longer if you count the last time it was with my Uncle Don, Aunt Chris, and the cousins. Â

Thanks Mom and Dad for making this happen. Â We both truly appreciate it. Â And thanks to Uncle Don and Aunt Chris for being a part of it as well...and for taking me to Xel Ha and scuba diving. Â
